Ben Lomond National Park is more than just a winter ski destination. Below the snow lies a stunning alpine landscape filled with an abundance of unique native wildlife. With plenty of walking tracks to enjoy year-round and only an hour away from Launceston, Ben Lomond is the perfect place for a day trip as the weather warms up.
Take some time to enjoy the untamed beauty of the mountain on one of the top trails, before heading back down to the lower car park via the beautiful Carr Villa walk.
ALPINE VILLAGE TO LOWER CARPARK

Enjoy striking views of Ben Lomond’s rocky landscape, mixed with alpine vegetation and colourful wildflowers, as you head around Legges Tor, the second highest peak in Tasmania.
This trail will lead you from the Alpine Village down to Carr Villa, only 500 metres from the Lower Carpark.

30 Minutes Return
This newly built walk will take you from the alpine village to meet the start of the more challenging Summit Pass Track.
An easy to moderate walk that will guide you through the rocky landscape mixed with Alpine Flora. Keep an eye out for our resident wildlife along your way.
ALPINE VILLAGE TO LITTLE HELL

1.5 Hours Return
Follow the ski poles along the route of this cross country ski trail across some small boulder fields to find the junction between Surprise Valley and Little Hell.
You’ll find a collection of colourful wildflowers along the gradual ascent to Little Hell with stunning views at the summit. Follow the trail back through Surprise Valley to return to the village for a delicious lunch at the cafe.
